A Growing Crisis: Why the Profession of Ecologists Must Come Out of the Shadows

The world is on the threshold of major change, and Ukraine is part of this transformation. Climate risks, pollution, biodiversity loss and the consequences of war make environmental expertise more important than ever.

Ecologists often remain in the background, although their work determines the quality of decisions in construction, agriculture, industry, urban planning and recovery. Without them, environmental risks are noticed too late.

The profession must come out of the shadows because Ukraine needs specialists who can measure damage, restore ecosystems, design sustainable solutions and explain complex environmental issues to communities and policymakers.

Environmental recovery is impossible without people who understand nature as a system. Supporting ecologists means supporting the safety and future of the country.
