Glossary Eco Foundation: Environmental Values. Environmental Actions

A new environmental foundation has been launched in Ukraine—the Glossary Eco Foundation (GEF). Its main goal is to serve as a platform for bringing together international and Ukrainian environmentalists, as well as the environmental community, to carry out an important mission: restoring Ukraine’s “green” potential and fostering environmental awareness among the nation. Ukraine has chosen the path of European development, which entails changes not only in the political, economic, social, and cultural spheres, but also in the field of environmental protection. “This is more than a geopolitical stance; it is a fundamental reevaluation. A commitment to change old paradigms by placing the environment on par with economic development. And that is precisely why the Glossary Eco Foundation’s goal is to raise environmental awareness among Ukrainians,” explains the Foundation’s founder, Anastasia Tsybulyak. According to her, the Foundation’s team will pay special attention to projects for children and youth. After all, they are the foundation and driving force behind future change. A distinctive feature of the Foundation’s work is its strong focus on collaboration with environmentalists. This strategy underscores the crucial role of professional environmentalists in raising environmental awareness and encouraging conservation efforts. The Foundation believes that environmental values inevitably lead to environmental action. “The path to environmental balance in Ukraine lies in the hands of the government, environmentalists, and each of us. That is why the Foundation will provide communication support for environmentalists’ initiatives and engage in educational activities, focusing its efforts on educational projects for young people,” notes the founder of GEF. Currently, the Foundation is working on relevant initiatives and projects aimed at promoting environmental education. Among its first projects are the publication of a series of children’s books and the hosting of a nationwide online ecology lesson for high school students. The Glossary Eco Foundation invites environmentalists who share its vision and values to collaborate. The Foundation is ready to support environmentalists’ initiatives both financially and through information sharing. “Together, we can build an eco-conscious society,” concludes Anastasia Tsybulyak. Background: The Glossary Foundation (the foundation’s original name) was established in 2021. Its primary focus is promoting sustainable change and restoring the balance in the relationship between humans and nature. Due to the full-scale invasion, the Foundation suspended its main activities, and its staff engaged in volunteer work. In 2023, due to the ecocide caused by Russia’s full-scale military invasion of Ukraine, the Foundation’s mission was redefined. The primary focus is on raising environmental awareness among Ukrainians, which will make it possible to restore the country’s ecological potential. Founder: Anastasia Tsybulyak. A Ukrainian economist, entrepreneur, and civic activist. Founder of Glossary Organic Products, Ukraine’s largest importer of certified organic products. She holds a Ph.D. in Economics and a Candidate of Political Science degree. Since 2014, she has served as an associate professor, and since 2021, as a professor in the Department of International Economics, Business, and Management at Concordia Ukrainian-American University.
