An Economy That Pays Its Debts Back to the Planet
We live in an age when almost everything has a price: technology, oil, data, emotions. But humanity still has not learned to pay for the most valuable thing: nature. For a long time, ecosystems were treated as free suppliers of resources.
Water flowed, forests grew, bees pollinated flowers, and none of this appeared on invoices until economists and environmental researchers began to calculate the true value of ecosystem services. Clean air, fertile soil, biodiversity and stable climate systems are not abstractions. They are the foundation of the economy.
An economy that ignores nature eventually accumulates ecological debt. It borrows from future generations through polluted water, exhausted soils, deforestation and climate risks.
The alternative is an economy that pays back its debts to the planet: it invests in restoration, reduces waste, measures environmental impact and treats natural systems as capital that must be protected, not consumed without limits.
