Glossary Eco Foundation Launches School Under the Sun, a Nationwide Initiative to Make Schools Energy Independent and Resilient During Blackouts

In Monastyryska, Ternopil region, the first energy-independent school has started operating with a roof covered by solar panels. The station supports the educational process even during blackouts and has become a symbol that Ukraine can create sustainable solutions where they are needed most.

The School Under the Sun project is a nationwide initiative by Glossary Eco Foundation. Its goal is to help schools gain energy autonomy, reduce electricity costs and become local centers of resilience during wartime and recovery.

The model combines infrastructure and education. Solar panels give schools practical stability, while students learn how renewable energy works and why responsible energy use matters for the future of their communities.

The foundation plans to scale the program together with businesses, donors, local communities and international partners so that more Ukrainian schools can become energy independent.
